MA transforms how reliability engineers approach predictive maintenance, replacing guesswork with precise visual evidence.
IRISS’s permanent electrical connection system enabling safe, tool-free access to energised panel circuits without opening covers or exposing personnel to arc flash. IRISS will demonstrate how Safe Connect integrates into existing electrical inspection and condition monitoring workflows — eliminating the risk associated with live panel work.
The IRISS Gold Cup Infrared Inspection Window is the industry standard for safe thermographic inspection of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and distribution panels — without removing covers. The Gold Cap’s crystal optic provides the clearest IR transmission available. IRISS will walk through specification, installation, and inspection protocol covering NFPA 70E compliance, kV ratings, and thermal camera integration.
IRISS will present E Sentry’s role in building an intelligent electrical asset monitoring infrastructure.
The IRISS Sonus Series is a family of advanced ultrasonic inspection instruments for detecting compressed air/gas leaks, electrical partial discharge, bearing defects, and steam trap passing. The Sonus VIZ acoustic imaging camera adds a visual acoustic overlay — making sound anomalies immediately visible for condition-based maintenance teams.

Infrared inspection window Motion Amplification (MA) is a patented video-based technology developed by RDI Technologies and exclusively integrated into IRISS's MA Service offerings. It uses high-speed video processing to amplify micro-vibrations — movements as small as a few microns — making them visible on screen and measurable with precision.
For predictive maintenance and reliability teams, MA is transformative: it visualizes structural resonance, mechanical looseness, rotor imbalance, and bearing wear in a way that traditional vibration analysis cannot. It's used across Oil & Gas compressors, power generation turbines, pump trains, and structural frames to identify problems before catastrophic failure. At Vizag, IRISS will run a live MA Camera demonstration — book time at the IRISS table to see it in action.
Infrared inspection windows are permanently mounted optical viewports installed in the covers of electrical switchgear, MCCs, and distribution panels. They allow thermographers to conduct full thermographic inspections without ever opening energized equipment — eliminating the arc flash exposure that is the leading cause of electrical injury in industrial facilities.
IRISS invented this product category and remains the global leader. Our Gold Cup series uses premium crystal optics for the highest IR transmission available, while polymer variants offer cost-effective solutions for standard panels. Every IRISS IR window is rated for NFPA 70E and IEC 62271 compliance, available in multiple kV ratings and frame sizes. IRISS will have a Gold Cap demo unit at the Vizag event — see and handle the product with IRISS engineers on hand for specification consultation.
The IRISS Sonus VIZ is an acoustic imaging camera that makes sound visible. It uses a multi-microphone array to capture high-frequency ultrasonic signals and overlays an acoustic heatmap on a live camera view — allowing technicians to visually locate the exact source of compressed air leaks, gas leaks, electrical partial discharge, and mechanical bearing anomalies in seconds, without physical contact.
Traditional ultrasonic detection is directional and single-point — requiring the inspector to sweep an area and listen for tone changes. The Sonus VIZ eliminates this guesswork by simultaneously scanning a wide area and producing a visual map of acoustic emission intensity. It is ideal for condition-based maintenance in compressed air systems, substations, electrical panels, and rotating machinery. The Sonus VIZ demo unit will be live and available for hands-on use at the IRISS table in Vizag.
Safe Connect is IRISS's permanently installed electrical connection system that provides tool-free, safe access to circuit measurement points inside energised panels — without opening panel covers. Traditional electrical testing and monitoring requires live panel work, exposing personnel to arc flash energy levels that can cause severe or fatal injuries.
With Safe Connect, measurement probes and monitoring instruments plug into pre-installed, shielded connection ports on the outside of the panel — delivering the same measurement data with zero arc flash exposure. Physical Safe Connect samples will be available to handle at the IRISS exhibit table at Vizag. IRISS engineers will walk through installation workflow, compatible instruments, and integration with E-Sentry continuous monitoring.
E Sentry is IRISS's permanently installed continuous thermal monitoring system for critical electrical infrastructure — switchgear, bus bars, transformers, and distribution boards. Unlike periodic thermographic inspections (typically conducted quarterly or annually), E-Sentry monitors thermal signatures 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — detecting emerging thermal anomalies in real time and generating alerts before a failure develops into an outage or fire.
E Sentry sensors are mounted inside panels (via IRISS IR Windows) and transmit data to a centralised dashboard — enabling condition-based electrical maintenance at scale across large facilities. It integrates with IIoT platforms, CMMS systems, and plant control rooms. At Vizag, IRISS will present E-Sentry's role in transforming periodic inspection into continuous, evidence-driven electrical asset monitoring.

IRISS solutions are deployed across virtually every heavy and critical infrastructure industry — delivering the greatest value in Oil & Gas (refineries, offshore platforms, pipeline compression), Power & Utilities (substations, turbine halls, distribution grids), Petrochemicals & Chemicals (high-voltage switchgear, process compressors), Manufacturing (motor control centres, rotating machinery), and Mining (remote high-voltage assets, conveyor drives). Visakhapatnam is home to the Vizag Steel Plant, major port and petroleum infrastructure — making it an ideal location to connect with regional asset managers and reliability professionals.
NDT stands for Non-Destructive Testing. It is the inspection and evaluation of materials, components, or systems without damaging them, so they can usually remain in service after testing. It is used to find defects, assess condition, and support safety and reliability.
The most common NDT methods are Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Electromagnetic Testing (ET). ASNT identifies VT, UT, RT, MT, and ET among the most commonly used methods, with PT also widely treated as a core method in industry training and certification.
A common list of the six core NDT methods is:
VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, and ET.
These are often treated as the foundational methods in NDT training and practice, though some organizations also include other methods depending on the application.
ASNT covers a broad range of NDT methods. Its main method pages include Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Electromagnetic Testing (ET), and it also recognizes additional methods such as Acoustic Emission (AE), Infrared Testing (IR), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and Guided Wave Testing (GW).
ASNT’s Level II pathway is a certification program, not just a single generic course. ASNT describes it as a globally recognized credential for NDT technicians that includes a general exam and specific exams for particular methods, with employer practical qualification also typically required under the applicable practice. ASNT also offers prep and education resources to help candidates prepare.
In general:
Level 1: Performs specific tests under supervision and follows written instructions.
Level 2: Can set up and perform tests, interpret results, and work with applicable procedures within the certified method.
Level 3: The advanced level, typically responsible for procedure development, technique selection, program oversight, and training or supervising lower levels. ASNT’s Level II and Level III certification pages reflect this progression.
There is no single best NDT method. The right method depends on the material, defect type, component geometry, access, required sensitivity, speed, cost, and whether you need surface or internal inspection. For example, UT is strong for internal flaws, MT and PT are often used for surface defects, and VT is usually the first step.
NDT is most commonly associated with QC (Quality Control) because it is used to inspect parts, welds, and systems for defects and acceptance. That said, it also supports QA (Quality Assurance) by helping verify that quality processes and standards are being met. In practice, it is usually discussed more as a QC inspection tool within a broader QA system. This is an industry interpretation based on how NDT is used in quality programs.
